This declaration reaffirmed the commitment of ALBA-TCP member states to uphold their sovereignty and independence, echoing the sentiments of their historical heroes who fought for freedom.

The 24th Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) convened in Caracas, Venezuela, on December 14, 2024, marking the 20th anniversary of the organization’s founding.

This summit was particularly significant as it coincided with the Bicentennial of the Battle of Ayacucho, a pivotal event in Latin American history that occurred on December 9, 1824.

The leaders of member countries gathered to commemorate this historic battle, which played a crucial role in the fight against Spanish colonialism in South America.

The communiqué highlighted the leadership of Antonio José de Sucre, a key figure in the liberation movement and a loyal supporter of Simón Bolívar.

The declaration reaffirmed the commitment of ALBA-TCP member states to uphold their sovereignty and independence, echoing the sentiments of their historical heroes who fought for freedom.

The summit served as a platform for leaders to reaffirm their commitment to peace, sovereignty, and self-determination.

They collectively rejected any hegemonic aspirations that threaten these principles, emphasizing their resolve to continue resisting imperialism and fascism. The communiqué stated:

“200 years after this Battle, we are convinced that we are on the right path, guided by the libertarian and solidary spirit of our ancestors”, stated the document.
